holy smokes friends, are we already mid october? okay, not quite, but we might as well be! we had family pictures taken on saturday. the setting was an apple orchard and the feel i was going for was a little rustic, a little prep. the outfit little miss s wore was perfect and she looked so precious i just wanted to squeeze her! for the preppy part i headed to prep headquarters, crewcuts. i can't believe she didn't put up a fight with this outfit! remember when i said we don't see eye to eye when it comes to fashion. she likes things that sparkle and glitter. she likes high gloss and i like, i like cotton... the fabric of our lives. she had no idea she was wearing a little boys shirt! a boys shirt! she wore it so well. the dress was initially a bubble dress that was too polished and too long. with a confirming nod from my friend, i cut it. i needed a little reassurance i was heading in the right direction. i'm still kind of surprised i did it. i cut a perfectly good dress from crewcuts. after my modifications i threw the dress in the washer so it would fray. the fraying added just enough edge and took away the shiny and new feeling that i did not want. under the dress little miss s wore some oatmeal colored leggings from h&m and we bottomed it out with some navy converse. i can't wait to see how the pictures turn out. we had some great backdrops, old wooden apple crates, wine barrels and of course the orchard.
hope you all had a fun filled weekend!
gorgeous! who did you use? We're having ours done in a few weeks up in an old orange grove. I'm not sure about clothes yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great setting for family pics!!! I just went on Saturday to the apple country and it was SOOO PACKED! That kind of stuff is a novelty here in Southern California so it gets so busy. Can't wait to see the pics!

Erin, I used Arika Reed. I've used many photographers and I like her system the best. You get an hour long photo shoot and she gives you 25 of the best images, which she edits as needed AND gives you FULL copyright of those images, all for $175. You read that right my friend. Most photographers would charge well over $1,000 for this. There is no need for a session longer than one hour when you are taking pictures of kids. They can't handle more than an hour long session anyway. She photographed my daughter's four year pictures and I was very happy. Some of my friends use her 4-5 times a year.

One more thing, I added a photography label on the side. There is only one post there, you can see an example of her work.
ReplyDeleteOh Amber...she is so adorable! PRESH is right! I love her outfit that you created...I think Crew Cuts may hire you as a stylist! You should send this to them. It looks like a page out of the catalog. I love the little boys shirt...madeline wears patrick's shirts, monograms and all more than he does. We just bought him a new plaid Polo shirt that I know she'll wear before he even knows it's his. I can't get over how darling this photo is! My girl is 17 and it's still so much fun to dress her!

I think you nailed it. seriously.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture! I would frame this one. She really is so darn cute! I can't wait to see the pictures too.
ReplyDeleteI never checked back to see what you said but that is a great deal! Will have to check her out. I don't want to admit what we paid last year for a "mini" session that was barely 30 minutes. WAY more!
